Eyes of a Blue Dog performing at Ailey Studios this Friday!

Contemporary dance company Eyes of a Blue Dog is pleased to announce the debut of its first full-length work "Sidelines" on Friday, August 14th at 7 P.M. The performance will be held at the prestigious Alvin Ailey Studios in New York City. Tickets for this event are not required, but there is a $15 suggested donation.

Through captivating contemporary choreography and the artistic direction of Elspeth Brown, "Sidelines" explores the interplay of real versus the surreal and the myriad emotions that ensue. A truly collaborative and multi-media presentation, "Sidelines" features the talents of motion graphic designer Luciano Tapia, actress Kim Jackson, and dancers Anjuli Bhattacharyya, Bridget Bose, Elspeth Brown, Andrea Palesh, and Halley Willcox.

"Sidelines" is an exploration of the physiological and psychological actions that arise during a single moment of quiet surrender. This single moment orbits around the Vermeer painting "Lady Writing a Letter with Her Maid"; narration, movement, and music are all caught in the painting's gravitational pull. These elements reflect the emotions that develop because of the dissonance between truth and illusion. The mind and body are in constant flux, but have an inherent longing to grasp the hands of Truth and Beauty. The hands can be reached, though not held, and the artists are discovering when they can hold this hand and when this hand lets them go.

Eyes of a Blue Dog is an expressionistic dance/theater company that fuses traditional and contemporary art philosophy to connect the old with the new. It offers questions in the form of movement, theater, and new media to present the validity in asking and seeking. The company has performed in various festivals and venues throughout New York City and New Jersey and it is thrilled to present their first full-length work. The members of the company believe that life is expressed through art and they comprehend this vital force that is presented to them everyday. For more information about the company and their projects please visit www.eyesofabluedog.org.

Feel free to pass this invite along to anyone else who might be interested, and we hope to see you at the show!
