Movmnt Magazine brings Dance and Pop Culture Together as a lifestyle. Co-founded by SYTYCD Alumni Danny Tidwell and Publisher David Benaym.

ABOUT MOVMNT

Pop culture is part of our heritage. The challenge is to raise the stakes and add to its legacy instead of recycling it. movmnt aspires to bridge the gap between pop culture and today’s real talent, and recognize artists over fame junkies. We aim to bring fashion, dance, and pop culture together as a lifestyle.

I know I’m bias when I say this but when I think: fashion, dance, pop culture, together, the first thing that comes to my mind is NFL/NBA cheerleaders. From the outside you may think that I’m crazy or too main stream but the truth of the matter is that most NFL/NBA cheerleaders hit the mark in all these areas and are not cheerleaders by trade but rather most are classically trained dancers.

The Laker Girls are a classic example of fashion, dance and pop culture. Many dancers use the sports entertainment industry as a starting point for their career and as we have seen through SYTYCD some contestants come from the industry or end up in the industry post competition.

These women expose the general public to more than their ripped abs and toned legs – through their tireless energy on the field and court they exposes thousands of everyday people to the latest music, fashion and dance moves. We cannot ignore that the sports industry is a huge part of our pop culture and with that said we cannot ignore the women who bring the dance culture into sports.
